One of the questions I get asked the most is “what makeup do you use?” and/or “what are my favorite makeup items?” So I decided to make a series about it. You DO NOT need to buy all of these products. I have a makeup addiction (I blame YouTube). I’m not proud of it, but it is what it is. Funny enough I only wear makeup maybe 2/3 times a week, so it doesn’t make any sense at all.
Makeup for me is not as important as skin care and in my opinion it should not be used as a substitute for healthy skin. Skin care first, makeup second. Makeup for me is an art. I enjoy the process of applying it.
*Please note that I have very oily acne-prone skin and most of my foundations are matte finishes. That being said, what may work for me may not necessarily work for you.
Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation
-This foundation is a full coverage, matte finish foundation. It looks flawless. I use it on days were I know I will be photographed and mainly for special occasions. A little bit goes a long way. It covers everything on the face and they say it lasts 24 hours but I would never leave it on for that long. This is my most expensive foundation. I use it with the Marc Jacobs The Face III Buffing Foundation Brush.
My shade is Cocoa Light 82 (perfect match for any season except Summer)
-This foundation is a buildable formula-medium to full coverage with a matte finish. It helps a lot with my oily skin. It lasts all day and looks like skin on me. This foundation also claims to last 24 hours. Love it. It doesn’t come with a pump though (I bought one from MAC).
My shade is 5W1 Bronze (it’s a bit light on me so I mix it with another one).
-The newest baby in my collection- I got it for the warmer days. This claims to be a skin tint but to me it is a foundation. This is a medium coverage with a soft-matte finish. It has SPF 30 (which is great) and vitamins C and E. Doesn’t clog pores!
My shade is Seychelles (perfect match).
-This is a great foundation but I don’t reach it for it often- I think because the shade I own is a little light on me. It is full coverage but it doesn’t feel like anything on the skin. Tarte prides themselves in being paraben free and vegan.
My shade is Tan Deep Honey (a little bit light but I mix it with a darker one).
-This is my most used foundation. I would compare this to the Estee Lauder Double Wear but so much cheaper. I absolutely love this one. I get compliments on this foundation every time I wear it. It is a matte finish, super easy to apply, lightweight and looks amazing. Can’t beat it for the price.
My shade is Soft Sable 111 (perfect match).
-This was my favorite drugstore foundation until I discovered the L’Oreal one. I still like it but I use it more to mix with other foundations. I’m not sure about the poreless technology simply because I don’t have large pores (thank God!) but it is matte and lasts. I would say it is a light to medium coverage foundation. Also you can’t beat it for the price.
My shades are 330 Toffee (light) and 355 Coconut (dark).
-This is a BB cream which is very lightweight on the skin. I use it when I don’t feel like having much of any coverage but still want to even out my skin. This has SPF 30 in it and it hydrates the skin. I would say that it lasts a long time. I would recommend this to anyone just starting out with makeup.
My shade is Medium Deep (perfect match).
*LAST BUT NOT LEAST*
-Unfortunately, I ran out of mine and don’t have a backup so I couldn’t take a picture of it, but this is probably my favorite foundation of all time or at least my second favorite (the Marc Jacobs one is up there). This foundation is medium coverage and great for photography because it looks natural. It is also very lightweight. It doesn’t crease and controls my oils very well. I will definitely be repurchasing this foundation.
My shade is 173=Y445 Amber (perfect match).
