Hope you’re all enjoying the beauty series! There are still a bunch of products to touch on but this post will be about my favorite makeup powders. This post will speak on two types of powders: foundation powders and setting/finishing powders.
My Shade: #240
This foundation powder was recommended by the Youtuber WhatWouldLizzyDo (click here to watch the video). This powder is a dupe (cheaper alternative) for the Mac Studio Fix Powder. Something I love about this powder is that it doesn’t transfer onto my hands when I touch my face. It’s lightweight and very comfortable. Also it is mattifying, vegan and cruelty free. You can’t beat it for the price! The only issue I have with this powder is that they don’t have a good range of colors.
My Shade: C6 Soft Sable
This was the first foundation powder I ever bought (freshman year of college) and it held me down. Before even knowing how to do my makeup, I would just apply this on my face and it left it feeling and looking flawless. I highly recommended this powder if you are starting off and just want some coverage. This powder is definitely medium to full coverage and leaves the skin with a semi-matte finish. L’Oreal did a great job with the color selection of this product.
My Shade: NC50
Over the years I have tried many foundation powders but I always seem to go back to this bad boy! I don’t know what else to say except I love it. It leaves my skin velvety-matte and is long wearing but still allows my skin to breathe. This is a medium to full coverage powder and one I will always use.
My Shade: Dark and Dark Deep
If I had to have one powder for the rest of my life it would be this one. I can apply this powder alone as a foundation for a very light coverage (in the summer weather) or as a setting powder over my liquid foundation. It leaves the skin with a pearlized finish and is very light on the skin. This is my holy grail powder. It travels with me everywhere.
Make Up For Ever
My Shade: 175 Golden Caramel (should have bought 174 Neutral Saffron)
This powder is long-wearing, matte and lightweight. You can use it alone and as a setting powder. I like it because it was full coverage on me. The only flaw this powder has is that it transfers if you touch your face, otherwise it would be perfect. This leaves the skin looking flawless.
Makeup Setting Powder
My Shade: Banana (only under the eyes) Topaz (all over the face)
This is the famous Ben Nye powder. I believe this setting powder became famous because of Kim Kardashian. This powder is very soft on the skin and appears translucent. BEWARE of the banana shade if you are my complexion or darker because it can leave you with flashback under your eyes. Otherwise, this product gives you a highlighted look for that dramatic highlight and contour look.
My Shade: Buttercup
The Sacha powder is similar to the Ben Nye powder except that it is better for medium to dark skin tone. This powder can be used to highlight, set/bake your concealer or as an all-over face powder. This powder reduces oils and leaves a matte finish.
This powder made the list because I love the way it feels over my concealer. This powder has what the Nars site calls Photochromic Technology, which diffuses light and adjusts to new sources of light throughout the day. It is weightless and just smooths everything out. I even use this to touch up my t-zone oils.
My Shade: Natural
This is everyone’s favorite setting powder and for good reason. This powder blurs imperfections, sets without drying, and gives off a velvety smooth feeling on the skin. This product is like Facetune in a powder and keeps you matte all day. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
My Shade: Radiant Finish
Okay so before I say anything about these powders, I’ll say you do not need this palette but they are AMAZING. This is a finishing powder palette with 3 different finishes. These powders just gives the skin a “healthy look” with a subtle glow. I love using these powder all over for a silky smooth finish. Each of these powders can be purchased individually at Sephora.
