How many of you wake up and the first thing you do is check your phones and open Instagram or read your emails? How many days go by where you simply follow the natural course of life?
It’s easy to get caught up in everyday life, your job, your stresses and not sit down and think of how far you’ve come. Don’t get me wrong I am just as guilty of doing this. I get so caught up on what I need to do next or where I need to go next that I don’t give myself enough credit for how far I’ve come.
Life isn’t always easy and although I am extremely grateful for all that I have I don’t remind myself enough. This past year I have made it a point to practice gratefulness and it has changed my life. These days I am grateful for simply waking up healthy and happy. Think of all the people that can’t say that or didn’t make it to today.
How do I practice gratefulness?
- I focus on what I have and not what I don’t have.
- I pray and thank God first thing in the morning everyday.
- I list things that I am grateful for.
- I tell my loved ones that I love them and appreciate them.
- I try my best to live in the present moment.
Gratitude can change your life. It can help your sleeping patterns, can make you healthier, strengthen your emotions, increases energy levels, and so many other amazing things.
I’ve realized that the more I appreciate and feel grateful for, the more I attract things and people to be more grateful for. Being grateful is a choice, an attitude, you have to work on it daily or you won’t gain the benefits of it.
So I challenge you to practice gratefulness and to actively implement it into your life. List all the things that you do have in your life and focus on them. When life gets tough remember that so many other people have it so much worse than you. I’ve learned to be grateful for everything; the good and the bad. I bet you have so many things to be grateful for and you don’t even realize it.
